Sundays always feel like a soft landing, but today will be a full one; the kind of day where the oven stays warm, the counters stay full, and the house smells like butter and beginnings.
This morning will start with a three-cheese quiche from Magnolia Table Vol. 1, served with a bowl of fall fruit salad. It’ll be the kind of breakfast that feels like an invitation to slow down before the day picks up.
From there, I’ll dive into the prep:
• two pie crusts
• a loaf of French bread
• and a pot of homemade chicken stock simmering on the stove
All of it will lead into tonight’s dinner; the Friendsgiving Casserole from Magnolia Table Vol. 2, made extra warm and cozy with that fresh chicken stock and served with holiday cranberry sauce. It’ll be the kind of meal that feels like a hug.
And waiting in the fridge? French silk pie. Silky, rich, and topped with whipped cream. It’s the kind of dessert that makes you want to linger at the table just a little longer.
Kitchen Tool: My rolling pin, steady and familiar, the one that will see both pie crusts through from flour-dusted counter to flaky perfection.
Cooking Tip: I’ll chill the pie dough before rolling it out. Cold dough keeps the butter solid, which creates those beautiful, flaky layers once it hits the oven.
It will be a big Sunday; the best kind – full of prepping, mixing, kneading, whisking, and the quiet joy of knowing dinner will taste like comfort and care.
