Fridays always feel like a soft landing; a little cozy, a little celebratory, and full of possibility.

This morning’s table will start with a copycat Quad City skillet: eggs, potatoes, peppers, all tucked into the warmth of a cast-iron pan. The kind of breakfast that steadies the day before it even begins.

Tonight will be date night at Haywire in Memorial City; one of those places where the lighting is warm, the drinks are cold, and dinner feels like an event, even when you keep it simple.

And then, the highlight: Ree Drummond’s The Pioneer Woman Cooks: The Essential Recipes book tour. I’ll get to sit in a room full of people who love food stories as much as I do, waiting to hear Ree share the heart behind the recipes. It already feels like the best kind of Friday.

Kitchen Tool: My cast iron skillet because every good breakfast starts with even heat and crispy edges.

Cooking Tip: I’ll par-cook the potatoes before they go into the skillet. It makes the whole thing come together faster and ensures everything browns beautifully.

By the time the day winds down, I’ll have a good meal, a good conversation, and a signed cookbook in my hands; a small, happy reminder of why I love gathering stories around the table.
