If Friday looks like Thursday, I’ll count it as comfort. I still have more potatoes to use, so breakfast will be another skillet — potatoes, peppers, onions, and a fried egg on top. A small victory in the middle of a long week.

Last night, Lily ate before I picked her up, so dinner turned into a solo night — just me and a bowl of Kraft Mac & Cheese, made exactly how I like it. The secret? Ignore the box. Cook the noodles a little less, drain them well, use less milk and butter, and whisk the cheese powder first before adding the pasta back in. A couple dashes of pepper at the end, and it’ll be perfect — creamy, cozy, and entirely mine.
Tonight, we’ll finally have the leftover beef stroganoff — creamy, hearty, and familiar. After a late meeting about Lily’s upcoming Japan trip with EF Tours, I’ll settle into the weekend knowing that chaos is coming. Lone Star Rally will bring half a million people to Galveston, and the steady rumble of engines will take over until long after midnight.

So I’ll hibernate. I’ll wake early for coffee on the porch before the noise begins, start cleaning out my closet, and maybe rediscover a few outfits — and a little motivation — along the way.
Maybe that’s the quiet kind of reset I’ll need — a weekend that looks like nothing special, but feels like peace.
