This morning will start with a plate that looks simple but feels like home — Bacon and Gruyère Drop Biscuits from Magnolia Table, Vol. 1, with fried eggs on the side. The biscuits baked up golden and hearty, filled with smoky bacon and melty cheese, the kind of breakfast that makes you want to linger at the table just a little longer. I love that they don’t need to be rolled or cut; just dropped by the scoop, baked until golden, and served warm. I used my cast iron pan again — it holds the heat just right, giving the edges that perfect little crunch.

Outside, the island air still carries a chill from the storm earlier in the week, but the sun is out now, and it feels like fall might actually be here to stay for a bit.

Tonight, we’ll head to Macie’s on Broadway before the football game — burgers and fries, maybe a little too much ketchup, and the kind of small-town Friday night that makes you feel connected to something bigger than yourself. There’s something about the lights on the field, the sound of the band, and holding a warm drink in your hands that feels like its own kind of comfort food.

Fridays don’t need to be fancy. Sometimes, they just need to feel like home — with good food, good people, and a little noise in the background to remind you that you’re part of something.
