This weekend’s menu isn’t just about food—it’s about family, about the pause before change. We’re headed north to see my oldest son before he deploys next week. Nine months feels both impossibly long and like the blink of an eye, so today I’m holding on to the in-between.
The morning will begin with a Sausage, Potato, Green Pepper & Mushroom Casserole. Hearty enough to feed us now and thoughtful enough to leave behind leftovers for tomorrow night when we return home—because sometimes the kindest thing you can do for yourself is plan ahead.
Dinner will take us to our favorite Italian place in Waco, worth every extra mile, and Sunday breakfast will be at the Hilton, where I’ll secretly be hoping for Texas-shaped waffles.
Menus can tell stories. This one is about savoring the moments we have, keeping comfort close, and remembering that the best meals are the ones eaten together before the road pulls us in different directions.
What’s on your menu?
Gracefully yours,
